I remember when Van Nistelrooy missed a penalty against Arsenal at Old Trafford - that was a time when Man Utd were Arsenal's rivals and Spurs were not even on any gooners' radar. I must admit, that was a painful time for me as a Spurs fan. So I cannot answer your question MJ but it is evident that Arsenal don't consider themselves Utd's rivals anymore, and I am pleased that we are now in the eyeline of Arsenal and gooners everywhere.
ReplyDeleteJiten here chaps... Fantashtick concept!
ReplyDeleteUntil Spurs make a bold statement and buy big (1 or 2) they'll face the situation of losing their best... Which means they're unlikely to finish above their rivals across the road.
Arsenal provide on the other hand a refusal to spend? Or a lack of available spend?
Either way - agree with Mike's earlier post... Eat strawberries and enjoy the Tennis. Cos the FedererBureauofTennis is goin on rampage this year for sure!
Jit - the Arsenal/Spurs debate is closer than its been for years. And yes, both clubs must spend well this summer...and what of your club? They are looking to make big moves.
ReplyDeleteAs for the tennis, look no further than Rafa.
I'll agrre with GWA, the gap is much closer, but until Spurs are able to match the wages that the teams around them offer it'll be a struggle.
ReplyDeleteSpurs need that 60,000 seater stadium to compete but at the same time they need UCL footy to sustain a fanbase and captial to fill and sustain a debt for a 60,000 seater stadium.
Quite a conundrum...?!
Rafa vs. Fed in the semi-final will have a lot of people wishing it was the Final.
