It's taken at least two to three years, but finally there is common sense emanating from Barcelona.
Johan Cruff has told Barca to get real in their pursuit of Fabregas and it's about time someone told them.
The real question Barca need to answer is why are they prepared to pay £40 million for Sanchez but see fit to offer only £35 million for Fabregas who has 4 years left to run on his contract? Arsenal have every right to ask for £50 million.
If Barca really want him, they'll need to pay the asking price.
On a different note, here's to Darren Clarke and hopefully winning The Open after a fantastic round of 69 yesterday. Only bettered by Ricky Fowler with a 68 who will also be carrying momentum into the final day. Lurking just behind, Dustin Johnson and Jimenez will be looking to make a final charge.

First off, great work on the regularity at which you chaps are posting your thoughts on all and sundry. It's good to read.
ReplyDeleteGWA has sharpened his tongue somewhat as well- some nice posts from my main man. I've even noted an albeit muted professional nod towards Arsenal from him- veering away from the obsequious drilling of Wenger- which is easy to fall into, especially as a Tottenham fan. Conversely speaking as an Arsenal fan I fall into the unusual position of finding myself fighting against such a stance. I admire the man. He's done wonders for Arsenal but I'm fearful and aware of the flaws- we all are. He is. Will he do anything or will it take a change in manager? That's too big a question to mull over here for you to read- I will touch on the Nasri/Cesc thing, though.
Cesc/Sami: Two excellent players. On the face of it, losing either or both would be a cataclysmic swipe to our chances of achieving, well-anything. However- I think all us gooners want right now is fight and spirit. The noises- or lack of them coming from these two is nauseating. We are a big club. We are a proud club. To know there are players (I refer in particular to Samir) who seek success with smaller clubs who are surfing a wave of transient glory: F*** them. Give me a player with a third of his ability who cares for the club. Let's face it, that's all proper fans want- someone who holds the club as dear as you do. I think ironically finishing seventh next season with a promising team that cares- whose intentions of staying are beyond doubt would be my preference over a fumbling bid for the title that falls short with players eager to shoot come June. They'd finish 3rd or fourth again. Give me seventh and the promise they'll fight for more.
