Robin’s Dilemma & the Strength of Manchester Utd
The RVP situation draws similarities to the Vieria saga of 2001. PV4 questioned the clubs ambitions after the signings of Richard Wright, Francis Jeffers and Gio Van Bronkhurst. However once Sol Campbell was signed up Vieria quickly retracked on his previous statement. So it’s much the same with RVP. He released his statement knowing Poldoski was signed and Giroud almost confirmed. Has the signing of Santi Carzola changed his mind? Who knows.
That follows on to Utds ambitions. Are Utd still a desirable club considering the power of Man Citeh and their Premier League Title? Current transfers and the inability to secure Modric, Moura or RVP (to date) would suggest the lure of Man Utd has diminished somewhat. However, with Financial Fair Play coming in to effect are both clubs just trying to cut their cloth accordingly? Both clubs have a significant amount of players they would likely move on if they could find suitors. But with an inflated wage bill started by Chelsea and increased by Man Citeh there are still players like Berbatov and Averagebyour that struggle to move on. I expect The Boards of each club have issued ultimatums to trim their squads before new signings. This will likely make the 19 point difference between top and 3rd much reduced and Utd, in particular, will face increasing pressure this season from Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea and Liverpool to stay in the Champions League.

So, the former captain of Arsenal, Robin Van Persie, is now a Manchester Utd player, depending on the outcome of a medical, which hopefully results will confirm he has a fully functioning right foot.
ReplyDeleteMany AFC fans will feel uneasy that once again, one of the top stars has decided to go elsewhere in search of gold medals. Sorry, silverware. Cesc Fabregas decided to go home to Barcelona, which even the most hardcore AFC fan could digest. In the same year, another top star left for another Manchester club which was less tasteful for most, though, I forget his name. The fans were left wondering, what the hell was going on?
At the end of the 2011/12 season, Mr Wenger invited RVP to his house for tea n krispy kreme donuts to discuss the concerns Robin had with Arsenals future. RVP had asked for promises for better investment when he became captain, at the start of the previous season and wanted to see the boss’s plans. It would appear this meeting did not go very well.
The employee (RVP) expressed his true opinions to his boss (Mr Wenger) on whether AFC were still interested in challenging for honours, or not. Very few of us would do such a thing in our place of work, as we have bills to pay. But would you if you won £250,000 on a scratch card? Well Robin did, and Mr Wenger kicked over the tray of donuts in anger, as the boy he had taken from a ‘whipper snapper’ and turned into an assassin, was now questioning the master. A shaken RVP was escorted to the exit of Mr Wenger residence, and realised he was also on his way out of Arsenal FC, for good.
Ok, so maybe it didn’t go exactly that way, but I doubt i'm far off.
It was now a case of making as much money from the sale of the 2011/12 Premier Leagues top goal scorer and player of the season. Ideally, AFC fans would have preferred to see him go abroad. But AFC were more interested in £££.
Arsenal will continue to do things the way the see fit, and no one player will ever dictate to those in charge.
I would like to wish RVP every success and all the best for the future.
Yeah, i’m lying, but have you not written the same in some detested colleagues leaving card before!!
The king is dead……..blah blah blah.
